About the Character

Personality

Dismas is the shattered husk of the man he once was. His brain has rotted from the terrible disease that afflicts his ailing body. Once a cunning tactician, he has become little less than a wild berserker. He has become indifferent to pain, and will often charge into battle against overwhelming odds or willingly leap in front of a strike aimed at an ally, taking the blow for them. Behind his weathered eyes lays the experience of a hundred campaigns. Although he remembers little of his past life, he clings on to the hope that one day he would be accepted back into society and return to his former self.

Backstory

From a very young age, Dismas wanted to be just like his father, a renowned and celebrated war hero in service of the Valley. He lied about his age and enlisted in the King’s Army at the age of 14, where he quickly rose through the ranks. Eventually, he became a Captain in charge of an entire company of some of the Crown’s most fearsome soldiers. One day while nursing a wound from a battle, he noticed strange lesions and boils taking hold in his skin. Not even the finest alchemists or surgeons could find a cure for his ailment. Soon, they began to spread throughout his entire body, including his brain, and before long, they could no longer be hidden by the numerous different clothes or bandages he put on himself. He was stripped of his title, his family, and fame. He was given a ceremonial mask before he was exiled from the Valley, which  he wears at all times. All he has left to remind himself of who he once was is his family sword. Now, the memory of his father, his soldiers, and the battles he has been in have long faded, and he has been wandering around Aspiria searching for purpose ever since.
