History

There are four generations of history to look through when it comes to the Land of Aspiria. The First Generation that settled the land, the Second Generation that established the Monarch and the Statehood, the Third Generation that established momentary peace from the wars that ravaged the land, and the Fourth Generation in which we find our characters today.

The First Generation

Our great-grandparents came to Aspiria for various reasons based on a collective of families. When they came across the sea they hit land at the northern peninsula of what is now The Valley. When the settlers started to move inland they realized to progress any farther they would need to fight their way through a native people of the land called the Ursine tribe, who dwelt in and around a north central mountain in present day Valley territory. This was the first major battle of Aspirian history. The settler’s advanced weapons and armor made the push through the land easier than expected resulting in little deaths and casualties. The settlers then came to the tallest mountain in The Valley territory that they called Crimson Peak, due to the colors of the leaves on the top of the mountain that never fall off their trees. A Village was established around the base of the mountain and the settlers started to expand up and down throughout the land. A group that had come over with the settlers could not agree on the moral code the citizens of The Valley due to their own barbaric, raping, pillaging, and conquering ideologies so they migrated south into what is known today as The Marshlands. The people of The Valley started to move north and found it hard to keep the native tribes from invading settlements in what is now The Pines, so they decided to push them back as much as they could and build a structure to keep them out. They started to expand that structure west and ended up engaging in war with the tribes from The Whitewoods, The Grasslands, and the Desert. Being overwhelmed by the massive forces, the settlers lost the land they had gained, as well as the structure being broke in the west. The settlers went back to The Valley and started to establish more towns throughout the land.

The Second Generation

Our grandparents decided it would be best to establish The Pines as a military zone that upkeep’s the structure to specialize in Whitewood terrain to promote further safety from northern threats. The Pines still runs under The Valley but established its own borders. The Rangers guild was established to be a secret police force that patrols the lands and reports back to the King. Tensions between The Valley and The Marshlands picked up during the people’s decision of establishing a Monarch. Paul of House Watkins, first of his name, is named King in The Valley. The Marshlands help fund and troop a rebellion from the southern-most part of The Valley. King Paul stops the rebellion by setting fire along the border of what is now The Blackwoods and The Valley that span hundreds of miles wide and long. This ultimately led the The Blackwoods breaking apart from The Valley to become its own state. The Valley does not do trade or financially support The Blackwoods. The Marshlands look over The Blackwoods strictly by regulating their imports and exports by sea and their trade by land. One of the final Acts of King Paul in his later years was to lead an army of Valley Soldiers onto the remainder of the Ursine people due to continued ransacking and destroying of towns. He had exterminated the last of them, or so we thought.

The Third Generation

Our parents were a more peaceful generation. Although trade and support did not start back up to the Blackwoods from The Valley, peace was established for a time between the four “civilized” states. The Valley Military was more thoroughly established by stricter training and requirements, making the time of peace productive in culminating the strongest army The Valley had seen. Tensions arose between the Crown and House Wright and a mini rebellion had begun. House Wright was alone in its pursuit though and all were killed except for the son of the Warden of the east, Joshua Wright. King James I then adopted Joshua and gave him the same education and training that his sons James and Kodey were receiving to show him the proper etiquette of Lordship that his father had not instilled in him. The Warden of the South sent his son, Hunter, to receive an education at Valley Head Keep, Crimson Peak’s Castle, and to serve the King and learn Lordship as a sign of the South’s loyalty to the Crown.

The Fourth Generation

Our generation has established the first counsel of the King, made up of Prince James, Prince Kodey, Ward Joshua of House Wright, Hunter of House Felix. The Rangers guild was massacred in a mission to locate a probable cause to the destruction of villages and Deaths of many citizens. The Ursine were found to be cultivating a mass army to destroy The Valley Head Keep after neglect from King James I to have patrols keep up on them. War broke out between the Ursine and the people of The Valley and many were lost, Including King James I. After this, an unexpected battle from the south occured where the Boltons attacked a weary Valley Army who were carrying King James I back to The Valley Head Keep. The Boltons were forced to retreat due to lack of numbers and over confidence. James, second of his name, Son of James Paul, son of Paul, was named the new King in The Valley. We marched on the Bolton’s. Not much was recorded of the battle against the Bolton’s besides for the fact of their defeat. Mainly stories are told of the single combat between James II and Nathaniel the rebel king. Years have gone by under the reign of King James II... and here is where our story begins...
