Description

Machinists are the driving force of the tech advances of Thymeria. They are innovative, driven, and always looking to push the boundaries of current technological limits. Due to them preferring the pursuit of invention over combat, their main weapon of choice is the crossbow. The crossbow not only defends their life at a distance, but they can also be thinking of new ways to innovate the bolts used for it. They’re also known for being able to craft crude pieces of technology when the situations calls for a quick, innovative answer.

Given Abilities

Hasty Improvement

The Machinist’s ingenuity and innovativeness is always causing them to improve the equipment of their allies and themselves. This will require components the Machinist has on hand to accomplish. The GM will determine whether the improvement succeeds or fails after the Machinist describes their thought process. (Examples: add fire damage to weapon, add damage to weapon for next battle, improve armor’s health bonus for battle, etc.)

Invention

Certain situations may call for new approaches. Using components the Machinist has on hand, they can potentially create technological answers to these problems through their craft. They can also craft inventions from their components to sell or trade if they so choose. This’ll take some time and ingenuity on the part of the Machinist however, and the GM determines whether it succeeds or fails after hearing their thought process. (Examples: Creating a tool to break a special lock, major improvements to large things like battering rams, etc.)

Reload

In the heat of battle, you can remove or recover arrows or bolts that have been used. These do not cost you extra drakes and are immediately able to be used once more.

Bolo Bolt

Machinists are always looking to push the limits of their equipment. Because of this, they have created a crossbow bolt that can wrap around someone’s legs keeping them from moving. Root the player hit by the bolt for 10 seconds. Recipe: Dragons Tongue,  Dwarven Cog.

Shock-Dust Trap

With the invention of Shockdust, Machinists have been searching for a way to harness the energy in a usable form. They have finally found a break through in the Shock-dust Trap, which releases the electric into whatever is near the trap. When players come within a small circle of the trap, they are restricted (torso and arms are temporarily crippled) for 3 seconds. Recipe: Dwarven Cog, Lightning Root.

Boom-Flash Grenade

One of the Machinist's mechanical Grenades. This grenade uses Boompowder in a much less lethal manner by creating a housing that will not create a damaging explosion but instead generates an explosion that disorients anyone caught in the blast. Everyone within a small circle of the grenade is confused for 5 seconds. Recipe: Dwarven Cog, Eye of Newt, Lightning Root.

Tier 2

Grenadier

Description

“For those who want to see the world burn.”

Grenadier Machinists are more interested in creating designs with a more explosive nature.

Given Abilities

Dragoncrackers

Grenadiers have found a way to use Dragoncrackers in a tactful way on the battlefield. Dragoncrackers cause multiple, small explosions to occur where it lands causing enemies to be distracted for a time. Distract enemies for 10 seconds if they aren't actively targeting the Grenadier Machinist. Recipe: Dragons Tongue, Dwarven Cog, Eye of Newt.

Special Abilities (Choose Two)

Firewall

Some Grenadiers have been able to master the art of manipulating the shape of fire. One such shape they've mastered is the Firewall. This wall of fire comes springing forth from one of their grenades to block enemies’ paths. Where the grenade comes to rest, a wall of fire is spawned blocking the path for 10 seconds. Any enemies within a small circle of the grenade take 1 fire damage also. Recipe: Dwarven Cog, Phoenix Feather, Scalamander Oil.

Dragon's Breath Grenade (DBG)

As some Grenadiers have manipulated the shape of fire, others have improved the blast from fire. The DBG Grenade is pressurized by fire inside the grenade to the point where it explodes. Knockback all enemies within a small circle of where the grenade comes to rest. Recipe: Dragons Tongue, Dwarven Cog, Scalamander Oil.

Phoenix Fire Grenade (PFG)

Their are Grenadiers that have found a way to craft Phoenix Feathers into their grenades. Using theses feathers, they can use grenades to heal their teammates while also getting to use explosives. Heal 5 health to all characters within a small circle where the grenade comes to rest. Recipe: Dwarven Cog, Lightning Root, Phoenix Feather.

Inventor

Description

”For those who seek to control the battle.”

Inventor Machinists are known for being the kind of inspired types with eccentric tendencies, they’re put these into creating traps and buffing weapons and armor. Rather than upgrading old abilities Inventor Machinists focus on these aspects of their powers.

Trap Master

The Inventor Machinist is capable of creating a great amount of traps to be set off during combat. They can set these off while unseen and have enemies fall into them, or set them up defensively in a perimeter.

1. Net - Root victim for 10 seconds while they untangle themselves. Recipe: Dragon Tongue, Dwarven Cogs, Mandrake Tube

2. Boom Mine - Victim who steps on boom mine Cripples one of their legs. Recipe: Dust of Ember, Dwarven Cogs, Mandrake Tube

3. Smoke Bomb - Smoke creates a confusion and blinding effect for 15 seconds in close range. Affects anyone who walks into it throughout its duration. Recipe: Dwarven Cogs, Eye of Newt, Mandrake Tube

Special Abilities (Choose One)

Clockwork

Using an understanding of time mechanisms, the Inventor Machinist throws a grenade that Roots for 3 seconds in a close circle. Recipe: Dwarven Cogs, Lightning Root, Mandrake Tube

Oil Shot

Spray oil on an enemy, Restraining them for 3 seconds. Next attack with fire deals +3 damage (Does not stack on Alchemical Grenade). Recipe: Dwarven Cogs, Mandrake Tube, Scalamander Oil

 

Engineer

Description

”For those who want to aim high.”

The Engineer Machinist has decided to focus solely on the crossbow. With this focus, the Engineer Machinist is looking to push the Crossbow to its utter technological limits.

Boompowder Bolt

Boompowder has been created in Thymeria by Alchemists and has been found to be volatile with a spark of flame near it. Engineer Machinists have taken this Boompowder and created a way to light it under pressure in a crossbow bolt. When the crossbow bolt strikes a player or surface, every character takes triple damage in a small circle centering where the bolt hit. Recipe: Dust of Ember,Dwarven Cogs, Lightning Root

Illusion Cloud

The Engineer Machinist has derived a way to release a cloud of dust in a small area through a crossbow bolt. With this, the Engineer Machinist puts a illusion inducing powder into the bolt to trick a group of people. Upon a bolt impacting a player or surface, all characters within a small circle is now in a fear state for 5 seconds. Recipe: Dwarven Cogs, Eye of Newt.

Null Bolt

With the Machinists invention of delivering injections via a bolt, they were able to put in a liquid nullifying agent that causes those immune to status effects to no longer be immune for a short window. When the bolt impacts a character, any status immunities they have are ignored for 5 seconds allowing others to take advantage of their effects. Recipe: Dwarven Cogs, Eye of Newt, Phoenix Feather.
